SIM card identification: How do I identify myself for my SIM card?
You can identify yourself by doing your next payment with Bancontact, MasterCard, VISA, or PayPal. The law dictates this identification has to be repeated within 18 months following this first identification.
If you set up an automatic payment method or an SMS payment method with a foreign bank account, you won’t be able to activate a prepaid SIM card. Your first payment and the control payment after 18 months always have to be done with a Belgian payment method. For the other payments, you can use any payment method you want.
To check the status of your identification, go to My Viking.
What happens if I already have an internet subscription with another provider?
If you already have an internet subscription with another provider, and you want to switch to Mobile Vikings, you may cancel your current internet subscription with your current operator. If you currently have a pack with that operator (with e.g. fixed internet, tv and 2 mobile numbers), you may choose to cancel all or some of these services. Also be sure to check payment terms for hardware (e.g. residual value to be paid for a TV or laptop) that you may have with your current provider. Pay close attention, because there may be additional costs in such cases, e.g. a final invoice. Also ensure that you synchronise the deactivation dates of your current subscription with the installation/activation dates of your Mobile Vikings internet subscription.
Important note: if at your address there is already an active fixed internet connection to the Proximus network (Proximus, Scarlet, edpnet,...), this connection will automatically be switched to Mobile Vikings, and you will no longer have access to the services you previously subscribed to via this fixed internet connection. Beware: any mobile numbers you have with the same operator and with which you also want to switch to Mobile Vikings will not be transferred automatically. During your order of Mobile Vikings internet at home, you'll have to do this yourself.
We do advise to double-check with your old provider to make sure everything is canceled correctly!
Of course, you can also use Easy Switch to switch to Mobile Vikings.
How can I block my SIM card and phone?
Has your phone been lost or stolen? You can request a new SIM card and block the old one via My Viking. You can also block your device. To do so, you need its IMEI-number which you can find on your invoice or its packaging.
I have an eSIM. What if I lose my smartphone?
If your smartphone is lost or stolen, you can block your eSIM and request a new one. You can also do this through your SIM card settings. You will then immediately receive an e-mail with the necessary instructions for activating it.
Which Internet does Mobile Vikings use?
Mobile Vikings is a subsidiary of Proximus, and Mobile Vikings' home Internet is activated on the Proximus VDSL and Fibre network, as well as via the Fiberklaar network. We offer two subscriptions:
- Unlimited fast internet (theoretical max. download 100 Mbps / max. upload 40 Mbps)
- Unlimited superfast internet (theoretical max. download 1 Gbps / max. upload 500 Mbps) -> only available via fibre.
I don't have any mobile internet. What do I do?
Trouble with your mobile internet, 4G, or surfing abroad? Follow the steps below to solve your issue.
Active bundle
Do you still have enough mobile data in your bundle?
Internet settings
It’s very important that you configure these settings correctly. In most cases, correcting these solves the problem. Go to our settings guides and look for your device. Did you receive your SIM card after March 15th 2021, and do you have an Android phone? Download the My Viking app! It will automatically configure your device for mobile internet, and you can use it to manage your SIM card. 🙂
Can’t find your device in the list? Then choose a similar device, the settings themselves are the same. If you have an Android device, pretty much any Android phone guide will do. But just to be sure, you’ll find the settings below:
- Name = Mobile Vikings
- APN = web.be
- Username = web
- Password = web
- Proxy = [leave blank]
- Port = [leave blank]
- APN-type = default,supl
- Authentication / verification type = PAP
Save your settings, toggle your flight mode on and off, and test your connection. If it didn’t work, reboot your device. That should do the trick.
If you have an iPhone, please make sure VoLTE is disabled by going to settings -> Mobile network -> Mobile data options -> Calls and data -> 4G, VoLTE off
Abroad / Roaming
- Check whether you have roaming enabled
- Choose another available operator and reboot your device
- Switch between 3G/4G/LTE
Try this out in your device’s settings:
- Apple: Settings > Mobile data > select "Enable 4G".
- Samsung (Android): Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Network mode > select 4G, LTE or an automatic network selection.
- Sony (Android): Settings > Wireless and networks > Mobile networks > Network mode > select 4G, LTE or an automatic network selection.
- Nokia (Windows Phone 8): Settings > Mobile networks > Highest connection speed > LTE.
Wanna know whether your SIM card is broken?
- Could you try your physical SIM card in another device? If that doesn't work either, then the problem may be with your SIM card itself. Our helpdesk can then help you find another solution or replace your SIM card.
How long will my calling credit and bundle including the free advantages be valid?
1 calendar month, starting from your most recent top-up. For example, if you top up on 8 November at 12.35 am, your bundle will remain valid until 08 December 12.35 am. What's included in your bundle? With a top-up you will receive a SMS bundle, data bundle and a Viking advantage bundle (free calls to other Vikings). In addition, you will receive call credit for the value that you have recharded your prepaid. You can use the call credit to make calls.
Context
We define one calendar month as the period starting on a specific day of a month until the same day the next month. A calendar month can, therefore, be 28, 29 (in leap years), 30 or 31 days long. Another example: if you top up in March, your bundle will be valid for 31 days. If you top up in April, your bundle will be valid for 30 days.
And my remaining calling credit?
If you have any calling credit left, it will be transferred to the next month and added to your next top-up. Calling credit from a top-up is valid for 6 months and then expires.
What happens after a month?
If the month is over and you haven't topped up yet, you'll be calling, texting, and surfing out-of-bundle and the out-of-bundle rates will apply.
What can I do when my voicemail is blocked?
Send an email to info@mobilevikings.com stating your phone number. Our helpdesk will help you out and activate your voicemail as soon as possible.
Why would my voicemail be blocked?
This could happen if you forget your PIN. If you enter the wrong PIN three times, your voicemail will be blocked.
In which countries does Roam like at Home apply?
Below, you'll find a list of countries where you can Roam like at Home. This means that when you're in one of these countries, your bundles and rates apply as if you were still in Belgium. To check the rates, including outside of the EU, please visit the roaming page on our website.
Do you have a 70 GB subscription? You'll call and text without any extra costs in any of these countries. As for your mobile data: up to 27 GB, there are no additional costs. If you use more, every MB used will be charged at € 0,002/MB.
You can't use your 70 GB bundle outside of the EU. Outside of the EU mobile data is blocked to avoid unexpectedly high costs. Do you really want to use mobile data outside the EU? That’s possible! With the Global Data Pass you can use mobile data in many countries outside the European Union. You can find all the details here.
What can I watch over the internet? My Belgian channels too?
All the apps below install easily on your smart TV or casting device. You therefore don't need a smartphone or laptop to stream.
For your trusted Belgian channels you use the free apps of the various channels themselves. For example:
- VRT MAX : één, canvas, Ketnet, Ketnet jr. + live video stubru, MNM, Radio 1 & 2 and Klara
- VTM GO : vtm, vtm 2, 3 & 4, vtm kids, vtm gold + live video Qmusic and Joe
- Since recently GoPlay as well: Play 4, 5, 6 & 7
For additional series/movies, you can subscribe to the services that suit you. That way, you only pay for what you really want to see:
- Series and movies: Netflix, Disney+, Streamz, Prime Video, Apple TV, ..
- Sport: Eleven Sports, F1 TV, NBA League Pass, ..
- Gaming: Twitch, Steam, YouTube, ..
You easily install all these apps on your smartphone, tablet, laptop and TV....
What speed can I expect from my internet connection?
The speeds listed are expected maximum speeds. For Unlimited Fast Internet over VDSL, these speeds are up to 100 Mbps download, and up to 40 Mbps upload, for Unlimited Superfast Internet via fiber up to 1 Gbps download and 500 Mbps upload. We will not do an installation if we see that we cannot offer you at least a 40 Mbps download speed.
What exactly can cause the actual speed to be lower? Several factors influence this. On the network side, for example, the distance between your house and the street cabinet, how many installations are connected to the same line, ... Furthermore, things such as wiring in your house, location of the modem, the power of the processor on your PC, the number of devices that use bandwidth, etc have an impact as well. You can compare it a bit with a highway: in principle, you can drive up to 120 km per hour, but the condition of the road surface, other cars, and what kind of car you have, ... can cause you to drive slower than 120 km per hour.
On every new installation, a so-called DLM profile is active. This stands for Dynamic Line Management, a process that checks and tests your line for several weeks after activation. After a positive evaluation, depending on the test results, your line speed can be increased. Please note that the DLM process is fully automated. It is a dynamic process on the current VDSL network. As an operator, Mobile Vikings has no influence on this process. The DLM process keeps on monitoring and testing your line to guarantee a stable line and full quality.
I can't call anymore. What do I do?
1. First of all, reboot your device.
2. Check your remaining calling credit or bundles.
3. Credit/bundles okay? Then switch between 3G/4G/LTE. You can do that in your phone's settings:
- Apple: Settings > Mobile data > select "Enable 4G".
- Samsung (Android): Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Network mode > select 4G, LTE or an automatic network selection.
- Nokia (Windows Phone 8): Settings > Mobile networks > Highest connection speed > LTE.
4. Are you abroad? Then try selecting another provider. You can do that in your settings as well.
5. Are you able to make outgoing calls, but unable to receive any incoming calls? Find out what to do when you're unreachable.
My direct debit is already in use. How do I create a payment method?
To prevent abuse, you cannot link an account number to more than one Mobile Vikings account. But what if you still want to use the same account number for multiple accounts? Don't worry, there is a solution! Just give the account with payment method management rights over the SIM card in question. We explain how to do this below:
- Log in to the account without a payment method and go to your SIM card settings in My Viking. You can only do this once your SIM card is active.
- Choose Authorizations and then 'give someone authorization'.
- Enter the email address of the account with the payment method. Confirm with your password.
- Log in to the account with the payment method and accept the management rights for the SIM card.
- Go to your payment methods to link the new SIM card to your payment method.
- That's it! 🙂
How can I configure and check my voicemail?
To listen to your voicemail, call 1933 using your Mobile Vikings SIM card.
I want to change my call duration
I want to update the language of my voicemail
I want to deactivate my voicemail
I want to redirect my calls to another number
- After listening to your messages, you'll hear a menu with options to change your voicemail preferences, such as your greeting, notifications, ... ,
-
You can decide after how many seconds your voicemail is activated. By default, it's after 15 seconds. The options are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds. To set this up, form and call one of the codes below:
-
You can change the language of your voicemail by calling 1933.
-
Want to switch off your voicemail? Go to your SIM settings in My Viking! You can also switch it back on here.
-
Calling your voicemail is free of charge in Belgium and within the EU, further abroad the local rates apply. You can check those on our roaming page.
- Want to call your voicemail from a different number, or while abroad? Call 0456191933.
You can also fully manage your voicemail from the My Viking app. More specifically:
- Switch your voicemail on and off
- Set how long it takes for your voicemail to become active
Can I listen to my voicemail in another country, and, if so, how much does it cost?
To listen to your voicemail while in another country, call 0456191933. You will need your PIN code to access your voicemail. Forgot your PIN code? No problem: the options menu for your voicemail provides you with the option to send the code to you in a text message.
If you are within the European Union, you can call your voicemail for free. Outside of the EU, you pay the local rate for an outgoing call. You can view the rates on our roaming page. Because you don't have any calling credit with the Only Data-price plan, you can't consult your voicemail outside of the EU if this is your price plan.
They are performing Fiber works in my street. Will Fiber be immediately available to me then?
The rollout of Fiber near or at your home does not mean that it will be available right away. In some cases, the work is carried out in zones: Fiber is fully rolled out per planned zone before it is made available. You may therefore have to wait a while before you are able to use Fiber.
How do I activate my SIM card?
Do you have an eSIM? Click here.
- Visit www.mobilevikings.be/en/activation.
- Enter the last four digits of your Mobile Vikings SIM card number.
- That's it!
- Are you activating a completely new SIM card with a new number, or a replacement SIM card? The activation will take up to an hour.
- Are you activating a SIM card with number transfer? The activation will take up to 24 hours. Your old SIM card will work right up until the Mobile Vikings SIM card is activated.
How can I contact the emergency services when roaming in the EU?
You can always call the European emergency number 112 free of charge. This telephone number is available in every European country.
You can find out what local alternative resources are available to contact emergency services in each EU country by clicking https://legalinfo.mobilevikings.be/en/emergency.
How does the Global Data Pass work?
As a Viking, you can acces mobile data in various countries outside the European Union with a Global Data Pass. Without a Global Data Pass it is not possible to use mobile data outside the European Union, as we block this possibility to avoid high costs.
A Global Data Pass therefore allows carefree use of mobile data outside the European Union, in the following countries:
Albania, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Faroe Islands, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, North Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, U.S. Virgin Islands, Ukraine, and the United States.
You can purchase the Global Data Pass for both mobile subscriptions and prepaid cards.
You can buy the Global Data Pass either for a mobile subscription or a prepaid sim card. You can choose between three options:
- For 250 MB, you pay 10 euros.
- For 1 GB, you pay 15 euros.
- For 3 GB, you pay 25 euros.
The pass is valid for 1 month from activation, regardless of whether you have used mobile data or not.
How do I activate a Global Data Pass? Well, there are two ways:
- Purchase via your My Viking account on the website or My Viking app. Outside the EU, you logically need a connection to a Wi-Fi network for this.
- Purchase via SMS by texting the number 1984: ROAM250MB or ROAM1GB or ROAM3GB.
This activation method does not require you to be connected to a Wi-Fi network, unless you need to make a manual payment. Receiving and sending these SMS is free of charge.
How does the payment for a Global Data Pass work?
For Mobile Vikings mobile subscriptions, the Global Data Pass will be activated immediately and appear on your next invoice/payment invitation. To pay those, as always, your available Viking Points will be used first.
When using a prepaid card, you can pay for the Global Data Pass through your My Viking account on the website or in the app using available Viking points or credit. If there is insufficient credit or Viking points, you need to make a separate payment.
When purchasing via SMS, the payment will first be made via any available calling credit on your prepaid card. If there is insufficient calling credit available for a full payment, any Viking Points in your account will be used. If there are insufficient Viking Points in your account for a full payment, your chosen payment method in your My Viking account (Easy Payment) will be used for the remaining amount. If you do not have an Easy Payment method set up in your account, you will have to make a separate online payment via Mobile Vikings' available payment methods. For this, outside the EU, you will need a connection to a Wi-Fi network. If you place your Global Data Pass order via SMS, you may not be able to complete the order via SMS because you have not set up an Easy Payment method. In that case, you will need to place the order via your My Viking account on the website or My Viking app.
Global Data Pass completely depleted? No problem! You will receive a notification via SMS when you have used 80% of your bundle, and when your bundle is completely depleted. Data usage will then be blocked again. If you would like to continue surfing, you can activate up to 6 Global Data Passes per month, per number.
Please note that the Global Data Pass only covers mobile data usage and not call or SMS costs. Local rates apply for calls and SMS, which are mentioned in the SMS you receive upon arrival abroad or on our roaming page.
All terms and conditions of the Global Data Pass can be found on our website.
Can I use an eSIM as a Dual SIM?
You can, as long as your phone supports a Dual SIM combination with an eSIM. Check this page to see if your phone supports eSIM.
How do I activate / install my eSIM?
It's very simple. Immediately after your order, you will receive an e-mail with an activation code to activate your eSIM. Using the red button in that e-mail, go to your My Viking account and enter the code there.
Once that's done, you'll get a second email with a QR code that you scan with your phone's camera or that you scan via the settings of your phone , and your eSIM will be activated.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
- Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi before scanning the QR code.
- Do you have an iPhone? Then you need to scan your QR code via the settings of your device. This can be done via the following steps: Settings > mobile network > add Esim > Scan QR code.
- If you transfer an existing number with another operator to an eSIM from Mobile Vikings, before scanning the QR code, you must remove the physical SIM card from the previous operator from the phone.
- Similarly, if you replace a Mobile Vikings physical SIM card with a Mobile Vikings eSIM, you must remove that physical SIM card from the phone before scanning the QR code.
- For security reasons, you can only scan a QR code once. If it doesn't work a second time, please contact our helpdesk.
- Good to know: if you transfer an existing number from another operator to a Mobile Vikings eSIM, the transfer of your number to Mobile Vikings starts as soon as you enter the activation code in your My Viking account (it takes up to 1 business day max). As soon as the transfer is complete, you will receive the e-mail with the QR code. So keep that in mind (e.g. on Fridays or weekends).
How do I cancel my subscription to internet at home?
You can do so in your My Viking account. Some important remarks about this:
- Your connection will be deactivated in the following hours.
- In the days following your cancellation, you will receive via e-mail a pro rata final invoice (= the normal monthly rate minus the period that your connection will not be active), or a credit note (= refund for the period that your connection will not be active) if you have already received your monthly payment invitation/invoice.
- You return your modem and/or booster via bpost within 2 weeks. You can find the shipping label in your My Viking account too.
- Any active mobile number(s) will not be cancelled because of this.
I'm unreachable. What can I do?
You can't be reached? We'll help you get back on track asap. Please try:
- Rebooting your device
- Changing your network mode. You can do this in the settings of your device:
- Apple: Settings > Mobile data > Turn ''Switch to 4G/LTE" off
- Android: Settings > More settings > Mobile Network > Network mode > Choose an option without 4G or LTE
- Nokia (Windows Phone): Settings > Mobile network > Highest connection speed > Choose an option without 4G or LTE
None of these tips help? Contact our helpdesk. Based on a recent example, no older than 24 hours, they can check what exactly is going wrong for you! Please make sure to specify the date and time of your example, as well as the implicated numbers.

Is roaming still free of charge in the UK after the Brexit?
Yes, Roam Like at Home still applies within the United Kingdom. This means that you can use your SIM card in the UK as if you were still in Belgium, with no extra costs.
The only exception? The Viking advantage. That's only valid within Belgium. You can check all rates via our roaming page.
Where do I find the PIN and PUK code of my SIM card?
If you have entered the PIN code incorrectly three times, your device will require your PUK code. You can now use the puk1 code. After entering this PUK code you choose a new PIN code.
Do you want to change the PIN code? You can change it via the settings on your phone. If this function is not available, you can instead form and call the following code:
(*)*04*[old PIN]*[new PIN]*[new PIN]#. Insert this code and press "Call".
(*) for some devices only one * is required before the code.
What are the rates for special numbers?
Premium numbers or special numbers are numbers you call or text for specific services; tickets for public transport like De Lijn, a helpdesk, sms-parking, ... They normally mention the rates that apply next to the number itself. Below, you'll find a general overview:
for calls:
for sms:
What does “premium usage” in my usage overview mean?
Premium usage is the usage of third-party services. A few examples: purchasing public transport tickets with SMS, SMS parking, ringtones, 0900 numbers, etc.
These rates are established by those third-party suppliers. Mobile Vikings only collects these amounts (including VAT) and transfers them to the supplier of such a specific service. Therefore, this usage will be mentioned separately on your invoice applying 0% VAT.
I suddenly experience issues with my network.
Are you suddenly experiencing problems with your network or mobile data? Chances are that something went wrong with the optimization of your SIM card. We are working hard to make all SIM cards compatible with upcoming technologies such as VoLTE and VoWiFi. Don't worry, we're happy to provide some steps that may already solve your problem.
To solve your problem permanently, you need to request a new SIM card. The easiest option is to request an eSIM: 100% digital and with instant activation. You get an e-mail immediately after you place your order to activate your eSIM. It is super simple: you scan the QR code and you're off! Within minutes you'll be able to surf, call, and text.
Do you only experience problems with your mobile data?
- For Android: First, reset your settings. You can do this in your settings under "Connections”. If your mobile data is still not working, you can follow a specific roadmap based on your device here. After that, save the settings and reboot your cell phone.
-
For iOS: Reset your settings first. You can find this in your mobile data network settings at the bottom. If this doesn't work, you can do the following: Go to 'Settings' → 'Mobile network' → 'Mobile data network'. Enter these details here:
- APN: web.be
- User name: web
- Password: web
Do you also see the entry fields for LTE configuration there? If so, enter the same data as above. Restart your device after this and it should work.
Still no success? Make sure to contact us, we would be happy to help you because we understand that it is urgent!
Which costs will there be if I cancel my internet at home subscription?
In the days following your termination, you will receive via e-mail a pro rata final invoice (= the normal monthly rate minus the period that your connection will not be active), or a credit note (= refund for the period that your connection will not be active) if you have already received your monthly payment invitation/invoice. No costs there. 😉
As for your modem and/or booster: you have to return these via bpost of course. You can find the shipping label in your My Viking account. Of course, the idea is you return everything. In case this doesn't happen, there will be a final invoice for the modem and/or booster you didn't return.
