Rates and tips to travel abroad

Worry-free holidaying thanks to Mobile Vikings. ✈️

Where are you traveling?

What would it set you back?

Mobile data in the EU

Within the EU, the same rates apply as in Belgium — so no extra roaming costs! Have a €15, €20, or €29 subscription? In that case you can use up to 20 GB, 30 GB, and 37 GB of data outside Belgium (within the EU) without paying anything extra.

Mobile data outside the EU

To make sure you don’t face any unexpected high costs, we automatically block the use of mobile data outside the EU.

Do you want to surf mobile outside the EU? Well, you can! With the Global Data Pass, you can use mobile data in many countries outside the European Union. You’ll find all the details here.

Rates

Check the applicable rates based on your destination.

Heads up!

Are you in a border area of the EU or traveling by ferry, cruise ship, or plane? Then your phone, without you realizing, might connect to a more expensive network. We recommend always turning off data roaming on a ship or in a plane. That way, even if you connect to Wi-Fi, your phone won’t accidentally switch to an expensive satellite connection.

How to set up your phone

I can't call or text

Calls or texts not going through? No worries, we'll transfer you.

Avoid unexpected high costs

Outside the EU, we block mobile data so you don't bump into unpleasant surprises. Still want to go online? Thanks to the Global Data Pass you can, in loads of countries outside the EU. Your pass is valid for one calendar month from the moment you activate it.

A few extra tips - free of charge!

Check the number of characters in your text messages. On your iPhone, for example, you can turn this on via Settings > Messages. The counter helps you avoid messages that are too long to send in one single SMS.

Have others call you instead of the other way around! On our roaming page, you’ll see that receiving calls is usually cheaper. On top of that: the person calling you doesn’t pay any extra? Yep, even when you're outside the EU.

Make the most of local Wi-Fi or buy a local SIM card at your destination. You’ll often find them at airports.
