Always in control of your usage!

Here you’ll find an overview of all your data, call, and text usage. So you always know where you stand and never get caught off guard.

Your usage

Your usage isn’t shown in real time, it usually appears in your My Viking account within 15 to 30 minutes. Here’s what the network displays after processing:

  • Text messages only appear once processed. Incoming texts aren’t shown, except for paid messages with confirmation (like De Lijn).

  • Calls appear after they’ve ended.

  • Data is shown once a session is completed.

Important: Message send attempts aren’t tracked. A message might be successfully sent to the central system, but that doesn’t mean it was actually delivered.

Sometimes processing may be delayed. So be extra careful when your bundle is (almost) used up! Usage is only logged after the session ends.

Where can I check my usage?

In your My Viking account (via the website or app), you’ll find an overview of your data sessions, calls, and texts under the ‘Usage’ section. Please note: due to privacy regulations, we cannot see how your data is used. Your device usually tracks this itself, so you can check it there.

  • Android: Settings > Connections > Data usage > Usage.

  • iOS: Settings > Mobile network or Settings > Mobile Data.

A data session doesn’t automatically stop when opening a new app or website. It stays active until your device ends it (for example, by switching to airplane mode or restarting).

The usage recorded on your device may differ from what we display due to variations in the set usage period. Adjust your device’s billing cycle settings for better insight, although it will remain indicative.

What are out-of-bundle costs?

This is usage outside your bundle, like international calls to numbers outside Belgium (both within and outside the EU), premium services, or simply going over your bundle limit. These charges are billed separately. To avoid surprises, we’ll send you a notification at € 10, € 20, € 30, € 40, and € 50 of extra usage.

My usage is higher than expected

What you can do to reduce your data usage.

Wi-Fi assist, Wi-Fi+, or Smart network switch

This feature allows your device to automatically switch to mobile data when your Wi-Fi signal is weak.

  • Got an iPhone? Check if 'Wi-Fi Assist' is turned off. You’ll find this setting under ‘Settings’ > ‘Mobile Data’. Scroll down and switch it off.

  • On Android devices, this feature is called 'Wi-Fi+' or 'Smart network switch'.

Your data sessions

These can stay active for multiple days.

  • You can turn off mobile data when you’re not actively using it.

  • You can also manually close your apps.

  • Another tip: disable the 'Update via Mobile Network' option (for both apps and software updates).

Usage shown on your phone may not match your actual usage

That’s because the tracking period on your phone may not align with your actual billing cycle.

  • Want to fix that? You can change your billing cycle date in your device’s data usage settings.

  • Note: the usage shown on your device is only indicative.
