Setting up your mobile internet and/or mobile hotspot? Here’s how!

Set up your mobile network

Easily set up your mobile internet yourself using the handy step-by-step guide below.

iOS

  1. Go to the Start screen and choose Settings.

  2. Scroll down and choose Mobile Service.

  3. If Mobile Data is disabled, enable Mobile Data.

  4. If Mobile Data is enabled, go to the next step.

  5. Choose Mobile Data Network.

  6. Edit the details for Mobile Data as follows:
    - Under APN, enter internet.proximus.be
    - Under Username, do not enter anything
    - Under Password, do not enter anything

  7. To finish the process and activate the settings, you need to restart the device. Your Apple iPhone will then be configured to use mobile internet.

Android

  1. Go to the Start screen and choose Settings.

  2. Choose Connections and choose Data usage.

  3. If Mobile data is disabled, enable Mobile data and choose the back symbol.

  4. Choose Mobile networks and choose Access Point Names.

  5. Choose the plus symbol.
    - Under Name, enter Mobile Internet
    - Under APN, enter internet.proximus.be
    - Under MCC, enter 206

  6. Under Authentication type, tick none.

  7. Choose APN type. Enter default,supl (note: in lower case) and choose OK. If this screen does not appear, tick Internet and choose OK.

  8. Under APN protocol, tick IPV4,IPV6 and under APN roaming protocol, tick IPV4,IPV6

  9. Choose the options symbol and choose Save.

  10. Tick Mobile Internet and return to the Start screen.

  11. To finish the process and activate the settings, you need to restart the device. Your device will then be configured to use mobile internet.

Set up mobile hotspot

You can set up a mobile hotspot to share your own secure mobile data connection with other devices, such as a laptop or tablet. This is useful when no Wi-Fi is available, allowing you to work, browse, or stream on the go, or to share internet access with others using your own data connection.

Make sure mobile data is enabled on your smartphone.

iOS

  1. Go to the Start screen and choose Settings.

  2. Choose Personal Hotspot.

  3. Choose Wi-Fi Password.

  4. Under Password, enter a password (at least 8 characters).

  5. Choose the tick symbol

  6. Enable Allow Others to Join.

Android

  1. Go to the Start screen and choose Settings.

  2. Choose Connections.

  3. Choose Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.

  4. Choose Mobile Hotspot.

  5. Choose Network name.

  6. Under Network name, enter a name and password.

  7. Under Security, choose a security option, in this case, WPA2-Personal and choose Save.

  8. Enable Mobile Hotspot.

Turn mobile data off

Do you want to turn off mobile data? You can easily do this via your device settings. 

iOS

  1. Go to the Start screen and choose Settings.

  2. Choose Mobile Service.

  3. Disable Mobile Data.

  4. Data usage has been disabled.

Android

  1. Go to the Start screen and choose Settings.

  2. Choose Connections.

  3. Choose Data usage.

  4. Disable Mobile data.

  5. Data usage has been disabled.
