Visual voicemail, what’s that?!

August 2, 2024

Do you also get sweaty palms when you receive a new voicemail? 😰 You know you have to struggle through that painfully long menu to listen to the message, delete or save it… Well, good news: with visual voicemail, all that is a thing of the past! 🤩

Voicemail 2.0

Visual voicemail is like the voicemail we all know, but just better. The big difference? With visual voicemail, you have a visual inbox that gives you a handy overview of all your voicemail messages on your phone.

In fact, visual voicemail is similar to your email inbox: your voicemail messages come in the same way. You immediately see the name of the sender (or "speaker" if you want to be completely accurate), the phone number, the date, and the time of the message.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy 🍋

From your inbox, you can choose which voicemail message you want to play. You no longer need to call 1933.

It's super easy to listen to, forward, delete, or even save your messages directly to your phone from your inbox. Perfect if you have a voicemail you want to keep forever. ❤️‍🩹 Plus, you can now pause, fast forward, or rewind while listening to your messages. Very handy if you just want to hear a part of the message again: no more wasting time.

You also won't receive an SMS for each new voicemail message anymore; with visual voicemail, you'll get a notification on your phone. All your messages will still be available via 1933 as well.

Who, what, where, when? 📆

Do you have an Android phone? Make sure your phone is up-to-date and install the Phone by Google app to use visual voicemail.

Do you have an iPhone? Visual voicemail will be available to you starting September 2024 if you have iOS 18 (or later) on your phone.

Are you using a Huawei? You'll need access to the Google Play Store to download the Phone by Google app. For the Huawei P30 (2019) or an older model, that's not an issue. However, newer phones no longer have access to the Google Play Store and thus cannot use visual voicemail.

Are you old school? No problem! You can simply deactivate visual voicemail and continue using the standard voicemail. 😉

Data usage 📶

To use visual voicemail, you just need Wi-Fi or mobile data. Don’t worry, a voicemail message uses an absurdly small amount of data.
For example: for a 30-second message, you use 28.35 KB, or - hold on - 0.02835 MB. That’s really very little data. 😉
