Using your own hardware

The choice is yours: the Mobile Vikings modem or your own hardware for your internet at home.

Your gear, your choice!

You can choose which hardware you use for your internet at home: Mobile Vikings’ equipment or your own. In concrete terms, this means that you can purchase all the devices we normally provide for fixed internet use (modem, ONT box, router, etc.) yourself.

What should you keep in mind?

  • It’s important to keep your Mobile Vikings hardware in good condition. That way, we can assist you in case there’s ever a fault on your line.

  • Prefer to use your own hardware? That’s possible, but we can’t guarantee everything will work correctly or securely. In some cases, a faulty installation might result in it not working at all. In that case, you are fully responsible for any potential damage.

  • Your own hardware must also meet certain technical requirements. Make sure to check them below.

Getting started with your own hardware

To successfully install your own ONT, we first need to register it. Please contact our helpdesk to complete the registration process. Then, continue with your installation by following these steps:

    Carefully read the manufacturer’s manual and follow the instructions - installation may vary depending on the device.

    Keep your Mobile Vikings hardware in a safe place: if any issues ever occur on your line, we’ll ask you to reconnect our equipment. Our helpdesk heroes can’t know every device on the market, so unfortunately we can’t offer support for third-party hardware in case of problems.

    Your chosen hardware must meet certain technical requirements. You’ll find all the specifications listed above.

Not working? Check this first!

  • If you're using your own hardware, we can't guarantee that everything will always work correctly and securely. In case of an incorrect installation, your internet connection might even stop working entirely.

  • Having issues? First, try reconnecting the Mobile Vikings equipment. Our helpdesk doesn’t have knowledge of all the devices on the market and may be limited in the support we can offer for third-party hardware.

Is everything working again?

Then the issue isn’t with the line, but with your hardware. In this case, contact the manufacturer for support or switch to the Mobile Vikings hardware. Follow the steps in our handy setup guide for a smooth self-installation.
