What you need to know

Your bundle is valid for 1 month: from one specific calendar date to the same one in the following month. From December 5th to January 5th, for instance. After your bundle has expired, the following rates will apply:

  • Calling will be € 0.2 / min for voice focus, and € 0.4 / min for data focus.
    Charged per second, with a minimum of 60 seconds.
  • Sending SMS will be € 0.10 / SMS
    Sent from a network in Belgium to a Belgian number
  • Mobile surfing will be € 0.10 / MB
    Charged per kilobyte
  • Sending MMS will be € 0.24 / MMS
    Sent from a network in Belgium to a Belgian number.

These costs will be deducted from your remaining calling credit. Until you top up again, obviously.

Roaming

Roaming is calling, texting or surfing mobile while you’re abroad and is activated automatically.

  • When you still have calling minutes, sms and mobile data in your bundle any calling minutes, SMS and mobile data you use abroad, will be deducted from your bundle.
  • When you have no SMS or mobile data in your bundle left, the standard national rates will apply. If you have no calling credit left, you won’t be able to roam.

Don't panic, and reboot your phone. It's not a magical cure-all, but definitely a magical cure-almost-everyting :-)

If that doesn't do the trick, check if you have enough calling credit or free mobile data remaining on your SIM card. You can do so on the website (under 'My products' > 'More info') or in the Viking App. Has your data been used up? Topping up would be the best way to go then.

As of 30/4/2016 the new roaming rates in the EU will come into effect. This represents an excellent first step towards abolishing all roaming in 2017. Well done, European Commission! So what’s new?For all bundles topped up as from 29/3 00h01, all of your usage while roaming will be deducted from your active bundle (the number of SMS and calling minutes). Below you’ll find an overview of the roaming rates that will be charged:

If you have an active bundle:

  • Send an SMS: in the EU the rate will be 0.0242 €/SMS, outside the EU this will be 0.5 €/SMS. The number of SMS you send, will be deducted from your active bundle, while the costs will be deducted from your calling credit.
  • Receive an SMS: free of charge in and outside the EU.
  • Call: in the EU the rate will be 0.06 €/min. with a maximum of 0.22 €/min., outside the EU this depends on which country you're in. Best to consult our roaming wizard for details. The costs will be deducted from your calling credit.
  • Receiving a call in the EU will cost 0.0121 €/min. The costs will be deducted from your calling credit.
  • Calling voicemail is always free of charge.

‹ backHow do I set up the mobile Internet?

To connect to the mobile Internet you will first have to configure your device correctly. For most devices sold in Belgium, you can follow the configuration wizard on our website. If the automatic option doesn't work, please try the manual guide. Also, make sure to restart your device before testing your internet connection.

Didn't find your device in the list? Not to worry. If you use an Android, any other Android device will match yours closely. And just in case, here are all the settings you might need:

 

  • APN = web.be
  • Username = web
  • Password = web
  • Proxy = not set
  • Port = not set
  • APN-type = default,supl
  • Authentication / verification type = PAP

 

Once you've entered all the settings, save all your changes, turn flight mode on and off again before testing your connection. If that doesn't work, please reboot your device and you should be fine.

You will see them in the Viking App after a month. Additionally, Hello bank! will send you a monthly email to indicate how many Viking Points you’ve earned thanks to the Viking Deal.

‹ backHow can I configure the mobile hotspot (and tethering)?

 To setup the hotspot for iPhone/iPad:

 

  • Go to 'Settings' and select 'Mobile Data'.
  • Go to 'Mobile data Options' and scroll down for the option 'Mobile Data Network'.
  • Enter the correct APN data: web.be, web and web
  • Then restart your device to save the settings. Your hotspot will now be available and you can share your mobile Internet with other devices.
