With visual voicemail, you get a clear overview of your voicemail messages in a visual inbox on your phone - just like your email inbox.

## Activating and deactivating visual voicemail

### Activating visual voicemail

You don't need to do anything to activate visual voicemail. It’s automatically available on all Android and iOS devices.

### Deactivating visual voicemail

- For **Android**, you can easily deactivate visual voicemail through the voicemail settings in your phone app.

- For **iPhone**, call 1933 and follow the steps in the menu to deactivate your visual voicemail.

## Do I have visual voicemail on my phone?

### iOS

All phones with iOS 18 or higher.

**Attention**: Visual Voicemail on iPhone only works via mobile data, not over Wi‑Fi. If you prefer to keep mobile data turned off but still want to receive voicemails, you can deactivate Visual Voicemail by calling 1933 and continue receiving regular voicemail notifications.

### Samsung

All phones that receive Samsung updates and have installed the latest One UI 6.1.1 update, which is being rolled out throughout 2024.

### Other Android phones

All phones that use the ‘[Google Phone app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer&hl=en&gl=US)’ (non-custom builds), receive Google Phone updates via the Google Play Store, and have installed the latest Google Phone update.

### Huawei

Only possible if you have access to the Google Play Store (such as on the Huawei P30 or older). Newer models without the Play Store do not support visual voicemail.

## Does it come with a price tag?

Visual voicemail messages use data: either Wi-Fi or mobile data. For a message of 30 seconds, that’s just 28.35 KB, or (brace yourself) 0.02835 MB. So yes, it uses very little data.

If you don’t have Wi-Fi and your mobile data bundle has been used, a small out-of-bundle cost of € 0.10/MB applies for subscriptions. If your out-of-bundle limit is set to € 0, you won’t be able to listen to visual voicemail in that case.

For prepaid cards, the cost is simply deducted from your available credit.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I still use the classic voicemail?

Absolutely, you can continue using your classic voicemail.

We believe visual voicemail is a big step forward in terms of ease of use, so we activate it automatically for everyone. However, you’re always free to deactivate visual voicemail for each individual phone number if you prefer the classic experience.

### Does visual voicemail work outside of Belgium?

Visual voicemail works within the EU just like it does in Belgium: it uses your mobile data bundle or Wi-Fi.

This means there are no extra charges for using visual voicemail within the EU.

Outside the EU, we block mobile data by default to protect you from high roaming charges. If Wi-Fi isn’t available and you still want to use visual voicemail, you can always opt for the affordable [Global Data Pass](https://mobilevikings.be/en/support/global-data-pass) - a mobile data bundle designed for use outside the EU.

### What happens to my old voicemail messages when I set up visual voicemail?

All messages saved on your "old" (classic) voicemail remain available. To listen to them, simply call 1933 and use the menu options as you did before. When visual voicemail is activated, new voicemail messages will be delivered through visual voicemail. However, you can still access your previous messages via classic voicemail at any time.

### Can’t play or delete your first visual voicemail message?
