Never a dull moment with these mobile games

Are you tired of twiddling your thumbs during the quarantine? We asked our colleagues which mobile games they played. Stop twiddling your thumbs and start… using your thumbs!

1. Bacon

Image result for bacon mobile game

Throw some bacon in the pan, and flip it on an object. Could be a hamburger, could be the moon or Kevin.. Bacon. Yep, it’s one of those games.

2. Jetpack Joyride

This game allows you to transform into a metal dragon and destroy monsters with bullets coming out of your jet pack. A sentence that will probably never be replicated again, but that’s what makes this game fun. And if that’s not spectacular enough for you, you can customize your jet pack. And the protagonist’s name is Barry Steakfries.

3. Pixel Dungeon

In Pixel Dungeon, you descend deeper and deeper in a dungeon full of unfriendly vermin. Rats, bats, telemarketers, … kill them, find better weapons, and don’t starve to death. In fact, don’t die from anything, because if you do, you have to start all over again. That’s what a roguelike’s all about.

4. Mini Metro

Would you like to be the CEO of the Belgian railways one day? Then this should be a good test. Build the best subway network by connecting the stations, and make sure people get to their destination fast. Planning and thinking are required. Stations as well as people have matching shapes. If you think this is a coincidence, this game is not for you. No shame in that.

5. Rogue Adventures & Dungeon Tales

Rogue Adventures is a rogue-like deck builder which looks a lot like Slay the Spire. You beat monsters with your best cards and unlock new classes to advance. Pixel graphics, role-playing, … if you understand these words, this is definitely the game for you.

Dungeon Tales is very similar, but with different style graphics.

6. Plague inc

Ever dreamed of becoming a deadly virus that wipes out humanity? With Plague Inc, you can do just that. Choose a cool-sounding name, and don’t leave anyone alive. Yes, we’re aware of what’s on the news and we’re still leaving this game in the list. Bring your strategic A game, because you’ll need it.

7. Hungry Cat Picross

This is a picture cross game for cat lovers. Solve the picross puzzles, and you get items to make your cat cooler or funnier. Puzzles are challenging, and they’re still adding puzzles weekly after 4 years!

8. Pokémon Go

Not really for when you’re on your toilet break, but it’s a good excuse to get outside more. Catch Pokémon, fight in gyms, beat Team Rocket, or do a research quest. Has anyone caught MISSINGNO yet, by the way??

Harry Potter fans can also play Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. It’s very similar to Pokémon Go, but with magical creatures instead of… magical creatures.

9. Fallout Shelter

Humanity has almost been wiped out, and you manage an underground bunker. Attract new followers, train your people to go on missions, make sure they have enough food, and generally keep humanity going. Average Tuesday, we reckon. This is a good game to play after Plague Inc.

10. Alto’s Odyssey

Alto’s Odyssey is an endless runner. The concept has been around for a while: you go faster and faster and you dodge obstacles, collect coins, and do tricks for extra points. Kind of like a metaphor for life.

This game has excellent visuals. There’s even a zen mode with no obstacles which allow you to simply enjoy the view.
